Fred McCormack
Lead Counsellor

Fred McCormack spent a significant part of his life in addiction which ultimately resulted in him begging on the streets of London for a number of years - he got clean in 2006 and went on to develop a career in psychotherapy. Fred’s first role in the addiction treatment sector began as a volunteer with RAPT (now the Forward Trust) where he went on to be employed as a trainee counsellor. He is now a psychodynamic psychotherapist having subsequently qualified as a member of the BACP and is also accredited with the BPC. He is currently Counselling Lead at Steps2Recovery working within the counselling and therapeutic team whilst also running a thriving private practice based in Fitzrovia. He is committed to helping people in their recovery from from various forms of addiction and to assist them in starting a new life and says “It’s clear that statutory clients aren’t getting the treatment they need whilst the private sector understands that the 12 Step approach to treatment is what gets people into long term sustainable recovery. Steps2Recovery allows us to use the private treatment model with people who, under normal circumstances, wouldn’t be able to afford it.”
